Just wondered if anyone can give me advise on removing tarnish from alloy wheels. Ordinary wheel cleaners aren't touching it.
Many thanks

Obviously its a case of how bad the tarnish is but if wheel cleaners arent touching it maybe give a bit of clay a go

Hi there,
I would try Wolf's Chemicals "Decon" Gel, it is fantastic at removing brake dust, of course if the wheels are tarnished rather than just dirty you should try a metal polish like the Dodo Juice Supernatural polish or Autoglym Metal polish.
Cheers!

Thanks for the advise guys, I'll post a couple of pics tomorrow. The car is 6 or 7 years old and I doubt they've had more than a wipe down with a damp sponge since it rolled off the factory floor, so it's pretty bad. I've used mellow yellow, tardis, apc and ag alloy wheel cleaner all to no effect. Haven't tried clay yet though, or lime prime come to that, I was a little concerned about doing more damage to the alloy if I hit it with abrasives.

Hello mate. By tarnish I mean there is discolouration caused by either corrosion or oxidisation. There is also some blistering, but I'm guessing that would need a specialist to remove it. Hopefully I'll get back from work in time to get a few pics up tonight

Agree and to me it sounds like it may have been a mix of harsh alloy cleaners over the years and a little bot f neglect?
My dads alloys are terrible, hes used neat alloy wheel cleaner by smart for a few years now and his wheels are absolutley knackrd...
